To date, we have formed a number of focus groups. These groups tend to meet at least monthly, research and discuss their subjects and develop projects and make recommendations. These include:
Indigent
Healthcare Focus Group
This group continues to make progress in spreading information about Federally
Qualified Health Centers(FQHC’s) in Collin County. Efforts are in force
to get clinics in Plano and McKinney initially. Project Access in Collin County
is still at the pilot stage but we will keep you posted of new developments
as they become available. Project Access will be a key network to link primary
patients to specialty care and hospitals from Non-profit clinics throughout
Collin County. We hope to have a Project Access and FQHC Educational meeting
sometime in the spring. Those wishing to help organize this event should email

Mental Health Focus Group
Our next Mental Health Focus Group will have Randy Clark speaking about some
positive developments in the Jail system. With the change in the District Attorney
we will be better positioned to advance jail Diversion. Our Grant effort was
unsuccessful, but we will continue to pursue this funding and other ways to
get needed services into Collin County that can foster a Jail Diversion program.

Focus Group
IDD Focus Group
The IDD Focus Group is working on a Pilot to present to our local legislators
in response to a study just released through DADS that will focus on service
gaps and provide employment opportunities for more people in this unique population

Childhood Obesity Focus Group
This group will be focusing on our next Educational Meeting and Panel Discussion.
We hope to have a program ready in the spring of 2011. Those wanting to get

Grant Writing Focus Group - Next Meeting TBD
In order to meet some of the community's healthcare objectives it will be necessary
to obtain funds, either by HCCC or other providers. Some will be from government
entities and some from corporate and foundation grants. This focus group is
charged with identifying funding services and helping to write grant applications,
