Background on Healthcare Committee of Collin County

Several months ago, a number of concerned Collin County residents started to review the healthcare situation in our county. These people represent a wide spectrum of political affiliations, socio-economic backgrounds, and professional and community interests. We formed Healthcare Committee of Collin County. Each month, between thirty and fifty individuals meet to review the healthcare situation in Collin County. After a research and study period, we plan to develop specific recommendations and an action plan to improve healthcare in Collin County.

We are asking religious entities in Collin County to encourage its members to become active participants in Healthcare Committee of Collin County. If you are not able to attend, we are asking you to encourage members of your congregation to join us in this important community effort.

Back in early 2006, a number churches joined an effort with the Plano (later Collin County) Interfaith, an affiliate of the Dallas Area Interfaith to work on study of Indigent Healthcare in Collin County and made recommendations to the Collin County Commissioners Court. A final report was published in August 2006. Several of the recommendations were accepted and some were not.

We look forward to seeing you.
